De titels van de "4's Company" reeks verwijzen voornamelijk naar begrippen zoals
"wij", "gezelschap", "samen", "4", "slaan",
en dat alles natuurlijk ten dienste van de muziek.

In goed gezelschap vertoeven is ook voor een paukenist aangenaam, vooral wanneer er in
een niet zo evidente maatsoort gespeeld dient te worden!

Wanneer de pauken heel zachtjes geklonken hebben, zouden we het publiek kunnen horen
opmerken: "We hoorden nauwelijks de kudde kalfsvellen", en al helemáál wanneer de
pauken voorzien zijn van echte, heden ten dage enkel nog door professionele paukenisten
gebruikte kalfsvellen, in plaats van kunstof vellen!

De cirkelkwadratuur is al een millennia oud wiskundig probleem, maar als dan bovendien
de componist via de paukenist het aantal cirkels nog tot vier opdrijft, is de mogelijkheid tot
oplossing nog lang niet in zicht! Ach, zolang die cirkels goed klinken...

Indien er mogelijkheid ware geweest om deze muziek op één of andere manier aan eten te
koppelen, dan had dit "stompstelletje" ook "The punch bunch lunch" kunnen heten. En
"The punch bunch lunch hunch" indien ze tijdens die maaltijd ook ergens een vermoeden
van hadden gekregen.

Together we hit
Deze titel doet een banale vaststelling, "Samen slaan we", maar verwijst tegelijkertijd ook
stiekem naar het vooral met de Amerikaanse Onafhankelijkheidsoorlog geassocieerde motto
"United we stand, divided we fall", dat even stiekem teruggaat op een fabel van Aesopus.

Idiofonen en membranofonen vormen twee van de vijf groepen waarin muziekinstrumenten
ter classificatie worden ondergebracht, en deze twee worden vooral door slaginstrumenten
bevolkt. Gecombineerd met een woordspeling op het woord "sound", dat zowel "klank"
als "degelijk" kan betekenen, en de voor muziek onmisbare trillingen, levert het geheel een
fraaie naam op voor een firma die beide types instrumenten op de markt brengt, maar, voor
zover bekend, op dit ogenblik niet bestaat. Nog niet.
Een weetje: de oorspronkelijke bestemming van de titel "Conjunto algo rítmico", in
"4'S COMPANY - ALBUM 3: KEYSTRUCK", was deze solo voor pauken!

is een "backronym" (kijk maar naar de beginletters!), en die van het eerste ook. Heel vrij
vertaald worden hier de instrumenten aangespoord om volop te klinken, zuiver voor de pret!

"we", "company", "together", "4", "to hit",
and all that, of course, at the service of music.

A timpanist can enjoy dwelling in good company as well as the next person, especially when
having to play in a less obvious time signature!

This title renders a possible thought of an audience having heard the timpani being played very
softly, and even more with timpani sporting real calfskin heads, the kind only used, nowadays,
by professional timpanists, instead of synthetic heads!

The squaring of the circle being a millennia old problem, pushing the number of circles up
to four isn't going to solve it, but as long as those circles sound nice...

The punch bunch
If there had been a possibility of linking this music to food, this jolly bunch could as well have
been named "The punch bunch lunch". And even "The punch bunch lunch hunch", if
during mealtime they were suspecting something.

This frankly trivial statement also refers, albeit stealthily, to the motto associated mostly with
the American Revolutionary War, "United we stand, divided we fall", that goes, about as
stealthily, the whole way back to one of Aesop's fables.

Idiophones and membranophones form two out of five groups in which musical instruments
are put for the needs of classification, two that are mostly filled with percussion instruments.
Combined with a play on the word "sound", and the vibrations indispensable for music, we
see a nice name for a company putting both types of instruments on the market, but, at least
at this moment, non-existing... yet.
Fun fact: the original destination for the title "Conjunto algo rítmico", in
"4'S COMPANY - ALBUM 3: KEYSTRUCK", was this timpani solo!

The title of the last (and 20th) piece of each pair of albums for a specific solo instrument is a
backronym (just look at the initials!), and that of the first as well. In this case, it incites the
instruments to keep on ringing happily.

Les titres de la série "4's Company" renvoient surtout à des concepts comme
"nous", "compagnie", "ensemble", "4", "frapper",
et tout ça, évidemment, au service de la musique.

Comme tout le monde, les timbaliers apprécient la bonne compagnie, surtout quand il faut
jouer dans une mesure peu banale!

Après avoir écouté les timbales jouées très doucement, le public pourrait remarquer: "Nous
entendions à peine le troupeau de peaux de veau", et encore plus si les timbales ont été
pourvues de peaux véritables, comme de nos jours seulement les timbaliers professionels en
utilisent, au lieu de peaux synthétiques!

Il a fallu la complicité entre un compositeur et un timbalier pour multiplier par quatre un des
problèmes mathématiques les plus anciens... Bon, tant que le son des cercles nous plaît...

même temps une référence quelque peu cachée à une devise associée avant tout à la Guerre
d'indépendance des États-Unis, "United we stand, divided we fall", qui remonte de façon

y todo eso, cómo no, al servicio de la música.

en compases póco comunes!

Al acabar de escuchar a timbales tocados muy suavamente, el público puede observar algo
como: "A penas hemos entendido el rebaño de pieles de becerro", y aun más cuando los
timbales tienen puestos pieles de verdad, como los utilizan los timbaleros profesionales, ¡en
vez de pieles sintéticos!

La cuadratura del círculo ya es un problema matemático viejo de milenios, pero si encima
de eso el compositor, junto con el timbalero, multiplica el problema por cuatro, no veremos
la solución muy pronto. Bueno, si, mientras tanto,esos circulos producen un buen sonido...

esa "pandilla de los golpes" del título podría haberse llamado "The punch bunch lunch".

da un nombre bonito de empresa productora de los dos tipos de instrumentos, que, hoy en
día, no exista... todavía.
